The PlayStation 4 is getting a new series of DualShock 4 controllers, and they’re a blast from the past.
These latest designs from Sony come in three colors: Crystal (a clear white/grey), Blue Crystal, and Red Crystal. While they sport the latest in Sony’s controller technology, including the upgraded touchpad, more visible light bar, and USB connectivity features from the 2015 DualShock 4, their design is a callback to the ’90s. Like the Apple computers, N64 controllers, and even PS1 controllers of that decade, the new Crystal line sports a semitransparent plastic front that lets players see their controller’s innards.
Each color controller will be exclusive to a certain retailer. GameStop and EB Games will carry the Crystal line, Walmart the Blue Crystal line, and Best Buy the Red Crystal controllers. No matter where you buy, though, the price will be the same: $64.99.
That’s it for the lines that are coming to the United States, but if you want to expand into even more colors and don’t mind paying a lot more for shipping, Japan is getting two more controllers in non-transparent midnight blue and grey.
Pre-orders for the controllers are currently available, and they should go on sale later in September.
