Titanfall will remain an Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC exclusive “for the life of the title,” EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said during an investor call yesterday.
“In the case of Titanfall, it’s a brand new IP, and it’s exclusive only for the life of the title on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and PCs,” Jorgensen said.
Talk about Titanfall being a timed exclusive and eventually coming to PS4 have persisted since the game’s official reveal at the Xbox One announcement event in May. The developers at Respawn Entertainment have largely evaded the question, or hedged their responses. Now, however, we have a better understanding about the availability of Titanfall and the future of the series—and where that future will be.
Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb reiterated Titanfall’s Xbox One-exclusive status on Twitter.
“Yes, [Titanfall] is exclusive,” Hryb wrote. “No, not a timed exclusive. It will only be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 & PC.”
Answering fan questions on Twitter about whether the company will make any games for the PS$, Respawn Entertainment founder Vince Zampella stated that the exclusivity only pertains to the first Titanfall.
“Of course we will, just not the first Titanfall,” Zampella wrote.
Of course, Zampella doesn’t directly state that it’s a Titanfall sequel that would also come to PS4—the company could create a whole new IP after launching Titanfall on Microsoft’s platforms. But in all likelihood? Titanfall 2 will be a cross-platform release.
