Titanfall

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment is working on an Oculus-exclusive first-person VR military shooter.

Besides the fact that this project will have nothing to do with Titanfall or its upcoming Jedi-focused Star Wars game, details on the project are scarce. However, it sounds like the focus of Respawn’s first foray into VR is on bringing the emotion of actually finding yourself in a combat situation to life via the power of virtual reality.

“A combat experience in VR really gives you the chance to experience life closer to what a soldier would experience in real combat,” Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said in the announcement trailer. “It gives you more of that feeling of paranoia and that tension.”

The project is still in the very early stages of development, but Respawn’s VR game sounds like it will be much more grounded than the Titanfall series, in more ways than one.

“We really want to depict being a soldier in combat in a more fully fleshed out and realistic way,” Respawn engineer Jon Shiring said.

Respawn’s “super secret” untitled Oculus-exclusive will launch for (at least) the Rift sometime in 2019.
