Torchlight 2 developer says the game is ‘too big’ to come to XBLA

The Xbox 360 version of Diablo-esque dungeon crawler Torchlight was quite a hit with console gamers, but those gamers may not be able to play the game’s sequel on that same console.
“With Torchlight 2 there is a little more complication as far as just being able to do a straight port, as we did with Torchlight 1,” Runic Games CEO Max Schaefer said to Eurogamer. “In all likelihood, if Torchlight 2 gets to the Xbox it would be probably fairly comprehensively redesigned.”
For the original Torchlight, the games control scheme and interface were redesigned to better fit on consoles. For Torchlight 2, however, it sounds like actual chunks of the game would have to be reworked and rethought due to how much bigger and more complex the game will be over the original.
One solution would be to release the game as a retail release instead of an XBLA title – an idea that Schaefer said Runic Games would “absolutely consider”.
