Activision and Hasbro have officially announced Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, following a retail leak late last week.
An Activision representative shared a few details about the game at a Hasbro preview event for the New York Toy Fair. Rise of the Dark Spark will apparently merge the two universes of Michael Bay’s films and High Moon Studio’s previous Transformers titles, according to Examiner.com.
Players will be able to play as both the Autobots and Decepticons. Multiplayer is also set to be included with horde-based combat featuring over 40 playable characters.
High Moon Studios, the developer who worked on War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, will not be in charge of Rise of the Dark Spark, instead Edge of Reality, who just release free-to-play title Loadout, will take over. The 3DS version is being developed by Way Forward.
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will be available later this year for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii U, and 3DS.
