Call of Duty

THE BUZZ: Treyarch has listed a number of job openings, indicating they have begun staffing up for a new Call of Duty game. According to the software company’s website a number of positions are open, including a Gameplay Combat Designer and a Scripter, among others.

With Black Ops, Treyarch’s studio head Mark Lamia said the team is, “100-percent Call of Duty studio,” and with Infinity Ward’s recent internal turmoil the team managed to put out a Call of Duty game that was both critically and commercially accepted.

No details about the next Call of Duty installment, but one has to assume it will be released in 2012.

EGM’s TAKE: The Sun will rise, Winter will give way to Spring, and Call of Duty will come out in November. These are things we can count on in our lives. We have to hand it to Treyarch, they are usually considered a second fiddle company in the Call of Duty franchise, but even with last year’s ugliness between Activision and Infinity Ward they put out a very successful game on shelves.

They could be looked at as the Call of Duty team now, well at least that’s how they see themselves.
