Trials Evolution Players Crash the Servers at Launch

THE BUZZ: So many people downloaded and played Trials Evolution when it launched that they managed to crash the game’s servers.
Around 100,000 people downloaded and played the game when it launched earlier this week. The servers simply couldn’t handle the amount of high scores being uploaded.
“The stress on the leaderboard servers became extremely severe late last evening,” RedLynx told Edge. ”For a while, the leaderboards were in read-only mode, then couldn’t be read at all. Microsoft worked quickly to deploy more hardware and the situation seems to have stabilised.”
“We apologise for the inconvenience, and obviously we’re working closely with Microsoft’s backend team to improve the situation and prevent this sort of thing from happening again,” the developer added.
You can check out the game’s launch trailer here.
EGM’s TAKE: When your game crashes due to too many players, you know your launch has been a success. It’s not a good thing that they went down, but it shows that RedLynx did’t expect so many people to be accessing the game at the same time. However, given the popularity of the original it’s no surprise to see so many downloading Evolution. Luckily the issues were resolved quickly and everything should be fine again now.
