Try Out the Unreal Engine Running in Flash Right Now

Posted on March 8, 2012 AT 07:38am

THE BUZZ: Epic Games has unveiled the Unreal Engine for flash, and now anyone can try it out.

Simply head over to to try out Epic Citadel (above), which was originally launched for iOS devices.

Trendy Entertainment has also been demonstrating their multi-platform tower defense game Dungeon Defenders running in flash at GDC this week.

Finally Epic showed off Unreal Tournament 3 running in real time in a browser on the Sanctuary map, one of the game’s most visually stunning maps.

EGM’s TAKE: It’s an amazing achievement by Epic to get the Unreal Engine running in flash. Could this be the start of actually designing console quality games for browsers? If this demo is anything to go by it certainly could be. Of course the idea is still a long way off, but just think of the possibilities that this has opened up.
