THE BUZZ: Well, this sure is quite exciting—it seems two additional squad mate choices have been uncovered for Mass Effect 3, and they’re quite surprising.

EGM’s TAKE: Alright folks, this is totally spoiler territory. In fact, I’m kind of sad that I’ve now spoiled this for myself. It’s sad the sacrifices I have to make sometimes to bring you this information!

From The Art of Mass Effect come shots of two pages which show squad mates that we haven’t seen yet. The first? A Prothean character of some sort. How is that going to work in terms of the story up to now? Certainly an interesting choice.

The second is EDI. Yes, as in the computer intelligence from ME2‘s Normandy. Except she’s no longer just a simple piece of the starship—she now has a full body. A female robot body. A sexy female robot body.

Here’s the text that was included along with the character design art from the book:

EDI’s body needed to be sexy, chrome, and robotic, the Mass Effect version of Maria from Metropolis. We had a lot of discussion about how robotic she would appear, what her “hair” would look like, and whether or not her face would be expressive. Since the body is an infiltration unit that once had skin over metal, we decided she should have the same facial effects as the other humans. Otherwise the unit would be easily spotter.

No word yet on if you can romance either of these characters or not—because I know that’s your very first question.
