Ubisoft Announces The Avengers: Battle for Earth

Ubisoft has announced The Avengers: Battle for Earth for Xbox 360 and Wii U.
The game is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec and is due for release some time after the Wii U launches. Battle for Earth is a motion control game based on the Secret Invasion story line, not the one in the recent film. It revolves around Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk and Thor as they battle the genetically modified alien race, the Skrull. Around 20 Marvel characters are set to appear in the game.
“We are excited to team up with Marvel Entertainment to bring some of the most iconic comic book characters from the Marvel line-up to life in motion-gaming,” said Ubisoft U.S. sales and marketing boss Tony Key. “Fans of the Marvel universe and superhero games are going to love the extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled moves and competitive gameplay.”
We’re glad to see an Avengers game coming, even if it won’t arrive until after the current fervor for the franchise dies down a bit. Still, with two movies featuring Avengers characters scheduled for 2013 — Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 — and one for 2014 — Captain America 2 — there should still be plenty of buzz to move the game, assuming it’s any good. The Batman: Arkham series has proved good games can be made from comic book licenses. Remember that Ubisoft — The Worlds Mightiest Heroes demand nothing less.
More details will be shared at E3 next month.
