THE BUZZ: While the PC version of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations may be coming a bit late, there is some good news for PC gamers everywhere who are eagerly awaiting the release.

Today on PC gaming site Rock Paper Shotgun, Ubisoft confirmed that Revelations will not make use of the company’s “always on” DRM security measures. Instead, the game will validate itself the first time it is launched for product activation, and then from there will fully be playable offline.

EGM’s TAKE: It’s nice to see those times when companies listen to consumers and make the right decision. Always-on DRM is a fine idea in theory, but in reality it can complicate the experience in numerous ways for legitimate paying customers—the exact people who companies should be working hard not to punish.
