THE BUZZ: A few weeks ago, we talked about the rumors and hints that are floating around that the next major Assassin’s Creed game could take place in ancient Egypt.

A new twist has been uncovered in the story: A market research survey produced by Ubisoft that asks those receiving the questionnaire what setting they’d like to see a future game take place in.

Here are the options that were presented:

• The violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China
• The advent of the mighty British Empire during Victorian England
• The culmination of the Pharaoh Reign in Ancient Egypt
• The invasion of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors
• The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution
• The overthrow of the Tsar Empire by the Communists during the Russian Revolution
• The Warlord Battles in Feudal Japan
• The rise of Cesar’s Empire in Ancient Rome

EGM’s TAKE: Of course, this survey stands mostly as a means to judge some level of interest in such locations and time periods, and shouldn’t be taken to be directly connected to the next major Assassin’s Creed title. Still, it’s interesting to see what ideas are even being considered by the company.

While all of them are interesting ideas, I think I’d most like to see the choices that haven’t been seen countless times in other games. Egypt hasn’t really been done well all too often, so I could definitely go for that—however, using the American Revolution as a setting could also set up some great potential and possibilities.
