“We are about to announce our first big triple-A being developed by the studio,” she told CVG. “I’ve got to say I think it’s going better than I could’ve imagined. I’m really amazed at the team we’ve put together and what we’ve been able to accomplish and I think Ubisoft is pretty excited too. Soon we’ll find out what everyone else thinks!”
Back in 2010, the studio announced it was working on its first title, an installment in the “Splinter Cell” franchise, which Raymond confirms the studio is ”100% focused” on. Furthermore, Raymond denies any involvement with a new IP at this time, saying, “We’re not actually working on a big new IP yet within the studio. It’s one of the mandates, and we’re definitely starting up some things in that direction, but we’re not working on a big new IP yet. Right now we’re 100% focussed on Splinter Cell.”
EGM’s TAKE: So, adding two and two together, an unusually difficult chore thanks to all the hubub surrounding GDC, we can only conclude that Ubisoft Toronto is set to reveal the first details about the next Splinter Cell game. Of course, if the announcement turns out to be something else it will just reinforce our low self-esteem stemming from our poor math skills. It’s been a long time since the last Splinter Cell game released, and it received only an average reception. Hopefully Ubisoft Toronto can help Sam get back on track in the gaming world and bring him back with a bang. We’re looking forward to catching a glimpse of those green goggles in the darkness again soon.
