The DLC is set to release February 21, priced at $9,99 or for free if you are part of the Fortune Hunter’s Club. The DLC adds four revamped maps from Uncharted 2: Village, Plaza, Temple and Trainwreck.
EGM’s TAKE: Four maps for $10 isn’t a bad deal, especially when they are bringing back fan favorites, but this again raises the question of charging for content you may have already brought if you own Uncharted 2. Should developers make all older maps compatible with the newest game? Really when you buy a map pack you’re only going to play it until the next game comes out and after that it’s useless. Developers then charge you for the content again to play it in the newest game.
It makes a lot of sense from a developers standpoint as all the assets are already there. It’s much easier to redesign old maps than it is to make new ones from scratch, so why not put them in the game to begin with? It would sway a lot of customers if a multiplayer game was going to launch with 15 maps instead of just six, even if nine of them are from the previous game.
Should developers upgrade older maps for free? Leave your thoughts below.
