Uncharted

It can be hard to be an outlier in the realm of video game criticism, as the reviewer who took on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End for The Washington Post found out after he gave the game its only negative mark on review score aggregator Metacritic.

A petition to remove the review was started on Change.org, and it currently supports just under 7,000 signatures with only 7,500 needed to reach its goal. (It’s worth noting that Change.org petitions are completely nonbinding, and there’s no sign that anything will actually happen once that threshold is passed. For the record, EGM doesn’t support censorship of dissenting reviews, either.)

Support for the petition saw a considerable jump when voice actor Troy Baker, who played the role of protagonist Nathan Drake’s brother Sam in Uncharted 4, endorsed the petition on Twitter.

Baker recently retracted his support with a follow-up statement to Twitter, claiming that he reacted “rashly and hastily.”

For EGM’s take, check out our review of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Spoiler alert: It’s higher than a 4 out of 10.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
