Tom Holland has essentially confirmed reports that the Spider-Man actor will take on the role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted film.
Holland recently posted a video to his Instagram account—picked up by Twitter user Cade Onder—alluding to his involvement in the Uncharted film adaptation. The short clip features a shot of the menu screen of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, with the caption “For research purposes”, plus a laughing emoji. The video seems to have since been taken down, perhaps at the request of Sony, but the internet never lets anything die completely.
Seems like Tom Holland is officially locked in as Nathan Drake, as of earlier this year it sounded like there was some question about it.

The video is fairly obvious in its intentions, but Sony has yet to make an official announcement about Holland’s involvement. Assuming Holland isn’t taking his fans for a ride, the young actor will presumably play a considerably younger version of Drake in the film, similar to the flashback mission in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception when Drake first meets Sullivan as a boy.
Speaking of Sully, additional reports have claimed that Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston would play a role in the film, leading fans to expect him to take on the mantle of Sully. The other leading theory is that Cranston will play the villain in the film, but, as with Holland, nothing is yet confirmed.
Production on the movie has apparently commenced, but we still don’t have a release date.
