Something unusual is happening with the EA Access Vault. Yesterday, Electronic Arts removed a game from the vault, something that the company had pledged would never happen. Now, the company is citing “unique circumstances.”

FIFA 14 is being removed from the Vault due to a unique circumstance specific to the title,” an EA spokesperson told GameSpot. “It does not indicate a change in our priorities for the EA Access and Origin Access Vaults, which continues to be on providing a varied selection of great games for our players, with new titles added regularly.”

EA did not comment on what this unique circumstance could be. The game’s servers are shutting down at the same time, but any players who download the game to their hard drives before October 18th will be able to continue to play offline.

“Rest assured that we’ll do our best to limit removals in the future,” EA concluded in a blog post on the subject.
