Unreal Engine 4 Running on Systems that Epic ‘Can’t name yet’

Posted on February 10, 2012 AT 10:16am

THE BUZZ: Epic Vice President Mark Rein has revealed that the Unreal Engine 4 is up and running on next-gen systems.

Speaking at the DICE summit Rein announced that the engine is now running on various systems including some, “we can’t name yet.”

He also told G4TV that the Unreal Engine 4 would be revealed later this year: ”People are going to be shocked later this year when they see Unreal Engine 4 and how much more profound an effect it will have.”

EGM’s TAKE: Just seeing what the Unreal Engine 3 is truly capable of makes us giddy at the thought of Unreal 4. How far can Epic take it? With the extra power that next generation consoles should bring it will be a sight to behold that much is for certain. Will it change the way we look at gaming? Or how developers approach game design? We’ll find out later this year.
