The ability to use the PlayStation Vita as a controller with PS4 games is something that developers need to specifically program into their games, Shuhei Yoshida—president of Sony Worldwide Studios—said on Twitter earlier today.

Responding to a question about the Vita being used as a second controller on the PS4, Yoshida said, “Hey BRO! In a normal sense, no. Unless a game is specifically programmed to allow such use of a PS Vita.”

Use of the Vita as a controller would be a separate functionality for the handheld than Remote Play, which Yoshida said in May would be a mandatory feature for all PS4 games.

The PlayStation 4 hits store shelves this fall. Rumors indicate a November launch.
