Valve has introduced a new system to Steam that allows users to tag games and software, making it easier to find items in its ever-growing catalog.
This new feature, currently in beta, allows users to tag any game or software with genres, themes, or any word or phrase—profanity will be filtered out. The most popular tags on a product will be displayed on its Steam store page so users can find games with similar tags. Users will also be able to browse the store by using popular and recommended tags.
“As the catalog of products available on Steam continues to grow, we want to ensure that it is easy for customers to find the particular types of games or software they are looking for,” said Valve’s Al Farnsworth. ”With this new feature, we are providing another powerful tool to help organize and browse products on Steam.”
Last week, Valve added a “Recently Updated” section to Steam that allows users to browse games that have recently received a new update or have new DLC available.
