Valve Software has announced that it will no longer build Steam updates or support customers who use Windows XP Service Pack 1.
The company will cease support from August 31. Steam users with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and above will be unaffected. Valve recommends that anyone still using the service pack should run a system update to upgrade.
Only one percent of Steam users will be affected by this decision. And really, it’s 2012 and Windows 8 is around the corner. Any users still running XP with SP1 need to upgrade, you’re emberassing yourselves as tech forward gamers.
