Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a fictional reference manual for the creatures inhabiting the Harry Potter universe, will be made into a videogame tie-in for the recently announced film adaptation, Warner Bros. revealed today.

Earlier today it was announced that author J.K. Rowling will pen the script for a film based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a book written by character Newt Scamander that appears in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as one of Harry’s required reading texts.

“In addition to the film series, Fantastic Beasts will also be developed across [Warner bros.’] video game, consumer products, and digital initiatives businesses, including enhanced links with Pottermore.com, Rowling’s digital online experience built around the Harry Potter stories,” Warner Bros. said in a press release.

It’s worth noting, of course, that both the film and the videogame tie-in are a long way out. Today merely blew the lid off their status as things that are happening at some point.
