Waluigi confirmed as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros.

Posted on February 27, 2014 AT 03:59am

Nintendo’s Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that Waluigi will be an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U.

“Once again, Waluigi’s Assist Trophy joins the collection,” Sakurai wrote on Miiverse. “Which also means he’s not a playable character. Just because you try hard doesn’t mean you’ll make it into the battle.”

Assist Trophies are items that can be grabbed in battle and summon a character to aid the holder.

Sakurai recently announced that Diddy Kong would be joining the game’s roster. “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is out now in Europe and North America,” he wrote on Miiverse at the time, “and to celebrate, Diddy Kong joins the battle!!” He later added: “We’ve increased Diddy Kong’s flexibility this time.”

Super Smash Bros. is set to release later this year for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
