Want the Best performance from Skyrim Patch 1.4 for PS3? Create a New Save

THE BUZZ: Want the best performance gain from patch 1.4 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PlayStation 3? All you have to do is create a new save.

Bethesda’s Community Manager Nick Breckon shard the information on the publishers official forums:

  1. To ensure the fastest jump in performance after applying the patch, be sure to first create a new manual save by entering the save menu and choosing ‘save game’. You should then restart your PlayStation 3 before continuing to play.
  2. If you encounter strange behaviour while playing immediately following application of the patch, do not be alarmed – this is a temporary effect of Skyrim scripts correcting themselves after the update. Once this process runs its course, be sure to make a new save and restart your PlayStation 3.

EGM’s TAKE: Fans have been clambering for this patch since it was first announced, and now Sony has finally delivered the goods. The patch should fix the lag issues which have been plaguing the game for months, but if you want to see the biggest performance increase in the shortest amount of time then follow the above instructions. Patch 1.4 offers much more than just a lag fix though, it repairs a lot of broken quests lines, NPCs and various other bugs and issues. The full patch notes can be found here.

Has the patch fixed the lag issues? Leave a comment below.
