LEGO: Lord of the Rings was released in the U.S. yesterday, however when a few fans got their copies they were shocked to discover that it contained a demo disc for the game and not the full retail version, naturally everyone took to various forums to vent their anger and question why this was the case.

Players who purchased the game from Toys ‘R’ Us, Walmart or Target discovered that a demo disc was in the Xbox 360 case and not the retail game, this hasn’t affected all copies and some stores have begun recalling the game. Warner Bros. has released a statement on the matter stating that it is a simple labeling error and the disc actually contains the full game despite being labeled as a demo disc.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is recalling a small number of LEGO The Lord of the Rings video games that were released for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft to Walmart, Target and Toys ‘R’ Us in the United States with a disc labeling error. The discs in question are incorrectly labeled as demo discs, but those discs do contain the full game content and are fully functional. This error does not affect any other formats of the game. We are in the process of remanufacturing the discs and will get them to the stores as soon as possible.
