A recent update to the conclusion of Watch Dogs 2‘s story campaign could spell out where the next installment will take place.
The ending of Watch Dogs 2 sees protagonist Marcus Holloway broadcast his hacktivist message to the world with the aid his Dedsec crew. Before players are returned to the open-world however, a short conversation is overheard between two mysterious characters. It was this conversion that was added by the 10GB update, aside from the usual tweaks. The new ending can be seen in the following YouTube video by Frenzy with the adjusted content beginning at 2:15.
The audio file is labeled with coordinates that can be traced to a part of Brixton, London, according to Google Maps. This location could set the stage for a sequel, DLC, or nothing at all, but only time will tell.
When questioned about the update, a Ubisoft representative told Kotaku, “The production team wanted to include a little something extra at the end of the campaign to expand the Watch Dogs lore and hint at the potential future of DedSec.”
Is this shift just a ploy to build up hype for an under-performing game, or could Watch Dogs really be heading across the pond?
