Watch Dogs breaks 4 million units sold within first week of launch

Posted on June 3, 2014 AT 11:05am

Within the first week of its launch last week on May 27, Watch Dogs has sold over 4 million copies, making it the best-selling new IP at launch within the videogame industry, Ubisoft announced today.

According to Ubisoft, these sales numbers also make Watch Dogs the companies best-selling gaming during launch week.

“With such strong sales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment,” Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key said in a clearly prepared statement posted to the Ubiblog. “We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.”

In other words, rest assured: Watch Dogs 2 is a thing that’s happening.

Watch Dogs launched across Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 last week. The Wii U version is still in the works, and is currently the development team’s primary focus. For more on Ubisoft’s newest IP, check out Josh’s review.
