WayForward Technologies has turned to Kickstarter today to help fund the next installment of their Shantae platformer series, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero continues the tradition of action/adventure in the spirit of Metroid, Castlevania, and The Legend of Zelda,” reads the company’s Kickstarter post. “Our goal is to introduce Shantae to a whole new audience with fresh art style and a brand spanking new storyline.”

WayForward is looking for $400,000 in funding. As of this post, they’ve received $46,586 in pledges, with 29 days left in their Kickstarter campaign (ending October 4, 2013). According to the company, the title is “already confirmed” for Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC through Steam.

The Kickstarter campaign is geared toward funding an opening stage, three chapters, and a conclusion. Stretch goals include animated sequences, extra chapters, and unlockable costumes.

WayForward Technologies hopes to put Half-Genie Hero together and release the title on the aforementioned platforms by October 2014.
