Yesterday, Ubisoft announced plans to release eight AAA games over the next two years, but its previously announced Avatar game was not mentioned.
A representative confirmed for IGN that the game will not be released before Ubisoft’s 2021 fiscal year, meaning that we won’t see it before April 2020.
“Avatar is one of the biggest and most powerful entertainment brands. Our first game was profitable and we have great plans for the new one, with a very strong studio and engine. The movie will be released end of 2020, so our game won’t be released before FY21,” the Ubisoft representative said.
Ubisoft’s Avatar game was announced back in February for PC and consoles, and is being developed by Massive Entertainment, the team behind The Division, using the Snowdrop Engine. The game will “continue to expand and deepen in the Avatar universe in exciting and innovative ways along with the films,” according to the publisher.
