Whore of the Orient developers Team Bondi and Australian production company Kennedy Miller Mitchell have received $200,000 in funding for the game’s development, investor Screen NSW announced today.

Team Bondi previously worked on Rockstar’s L.A. Noire, to which Whore of the Orient is something of a spiritual sequel to—similar in tone and style, but not a direct continuation of L.A. Noire.

Screen NSW is a branch of the Australian government responsible for creative and economic development.

Set in 1936 Shanghai, China, Team Bondi aims to tell “one of the great untold stories of the 20th century” with Whore of the Orient.

Whore of the Orient is scheduled for a 2015 release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
