Hideo Kojima gets scared too easily to make another horror game.

After creating the terrifying teaser for Silent HillsPT, it may surprising that game developer Hideo Kojima has said he will never create another horror game. However, in an interview with IGN Kojima stated that games like PT are too scary, and often cause him to have nightmares—something he doesn’t want to deal with again.

“While in that process [of creating games], we’re constantly imagining, like, terrifying situations so it ends up giving me bad dreams,” said Kojima. “That’s the reason why I don’t want to make a horror game.”

According to Kojima, this fear is fairly common among auteurs, and helps them create horrific experiences.

“Actually, this is true of Alfred Hitchcock as well as Steven Spielberg,” said Kojima. ” Because they scare easily, because I scare easily, it’s actually easy for us to make something that is scary, because we understand what is scary.”

So, I guess I’ll just have to hold onto my PlayStation 4 forever so that I can relive PT time and time again. Unless Kojima decides he doesn’t mind enduring a few more sleepless nights.
