Nintendo has announced that Wii Fit Balance Board owners will be able to download a free one-month trial of Wii Fit U from November 1 (anyone can download the trial, but it requires a Balance Board to play).

The trial can be downloaded from the eShop from November 1 until January 31, 2014 and will last exactly 31 days from when you first load it up. Players who wish to continue using the software after the free trial is over will have to purchase a Fit Meter accessory for $19.99 and sync it with their free copy of Wii Fit U. This will unlock the full game forever.

Wii Fit Meters will be on sale from November 1 for $19.99, while a full retail version of the game will launch on December 13 and comes in two bundles, one with a disc copy of Wii Fit U and a Fit Meter, and a second with a disc copy of Wii Fit U, a Fit Meter, and a Balance Board.

Nintendo was keen to stress that this free trial is not a demo version, it contains everything that the full retail game includes.
