The latest system update for the 3DS has finally unified the Wii U and 3DS eShop accounts, in addition to giving 3Ds owners access to Miiverse on their handheld.
The unified eShop allows users to share a balance between both platforms and spend it on either, via their Nintendo Network ID. However, according to The Verge, Nintendo is currently suffering some network issues, locking out users from the eShop.
The Miiverse icon has been added to the top row of the 3DS menu, meaning that it can be accessed while in game. The update also brings a few other tweaks to the handheld, such as removing the five-time limit on transferring your 3DS’ data to a new handheld and the camera app can now be launched from the home screen by pressing L and R together.
