Wii U Batman: Arkham Origins season pass nixed due to low demand

Wii U owners of Batman: Arkham Origins will not receive the upcoming story DLC due to low demand,   Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed to Polygon.

According to an e-mail obtained by Go Nintendo, who first reported the news, anyone who purchased season pass will be refunded in full ($19.99+tax) by way of eShop credit.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson later told Polygon that “based on demand for DLC content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming all-new story campaign for the Wii U.”

The game’s season pass originally included three skin packs, the Initiation challenge mode DLC, and the upcoming campaign DLC hinted to revolve around Mr. Freeze. Players who have already downloaded the skins and Initiation on Wii U will still be able to enjoy them.

Warner Bros.’ withdrawal of Wii U content follows news of Nintendo’s latest console failing to meet the company’s sales projections last year. As penance for the Wii U’s poor performance, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced he would take a 50 percent pay cut for five months.
