Wii U sales in the U.K. have leapt up 685 percent following the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, MCV reports.
“We have long believed that software sells hardware and it’s great to see that reaffirmed this week with an uplift of Wii U hardware sales to coincide with the launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD,” Nintendo head of consumer marketing in the U.K. James Honeywell said in a statement.
Nintendo has yet to disclose any hard numbers to paint a clearer picture of what the impressive-sounding figure means (going from 0 to 685 would technically constitute a 685 percent raise), or whether sales were bolstered by the Wii U Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Deluxe Set, which comes with the game and a specially designed Wii U inspired by The Legend of Zelda (priced at £249.99, roughly 400 U.S. dollars).
The Wind Waker HD saw a simultaneous retail release in Europe and North America October 4, after debuting on the Wii U eShop in North America September 30. For more on the HD update, check out Andrew’s review.
