Nintendo has released system update 5.1.0 for Wii U that finally adds the ability to transfer data from one Wii U console to another.
Previously, a one-time transfer between Wii and Wii U was available, but once this update has been installed a new “System Transfer” option will be available, allowing data to be moved from one Wii U to another. To begin the transfer both Wii U consoles must be updated to firmware 5.1.0, and once the transfer is complete the source console will be formatted. You can find more information about the transfer process here.
The update also adds the ability to navigate the eShop using a Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller, or a Classic Controller.
The only other update notes reads: ”Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
