Nintendo has announced that it is to launch the Wii U Virtual Console after the console’s spring update.
The full Wii Virtual Console line-up won’t be available at launch, but there will be NES and SNES games available, with plans to add GBA games at a later date.
If you already own any of these titles on Wii then you will be able to download the enhanced Wii U versions at a discounted price.
Update: Nintendo has announced some details about the reduced price for those who already own Virtual Console games on the Wii. For NES games, the cost will be $1; for Super NES games, $1.50.
As well, Nintendo revealed a “Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Famicom (the Japanese version of the NES). The publisher will be releasing a collection of NES and SNES games for the Wii U Virtual Console where—for the first 30 days—the cost of the game will only be 30 cents.
Here’s the announced rundown:
Jan: Balloon Fight
Feb: F-Zero
Mar: Punch Out! Featuring Mr. Dream
Apr: Kirby’s Adventure
May: Super Metroid
Jun: Yoshi
Jul: Donkey Kong
