Wii U Virtual Console Planned, Will Allow GamePad-Only Play
Posted on January 9, 2013 AT 12:26pm

An unnamed Nintendo rep claims a Virtual Console for Wii U is in development, with plans to allow Virtual Console games to be played solely on the GamePad.
“We are moving ahead with development of Virtual Console for Wii U, and we plan to make it so you can play it on the Wii U GamePad alone,” the Nintendo of America rep told Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.
This quote appears in an editorial of Schreier’s that ran yesterday.
Currently, the Wii U only plays Virtual Console games transferred over from a Wii. It does not possess its own Virtual Console. The option to play classic games on the GamePad would definitely fall in line with Nintendo’s Wii U marketing, however, which sells the system as something that can still be played even when Mom wants the television for herself.
