Injustice

As Injustice 2 fans wait for the next character reveal (or even a hint) from game developer NetherRealm, speculation indicates that we may soon see a different kind of character added to the game’s roster.

The inclusion of fighters from Mortal Kombat X (and possibly other franchises) is a very real possibility according to a recent report. Fans of the original Injustice: Gods Among Us will of course remember the DLC inclusion of MK favorite Scorpion into that game ? an addition that proved to be highly successful. NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon subsequently revealed that on his Twitter account that Scorpion was the most downloaded Injustice character post-release.

Coupled with the success of such non-Kombat guest characters as Jason Voorhees and the Predator in Mortal Kombat X, it should come as no surprise that Boon and Co. would seriously consider revisiting the Earthrealm (or any other Realm for that matter) for additional fighters to take on the DC Comics super-heroes and villains.

?I think we are going to go further with DLC than any of our previous games,” Boon recently explained in an interview with Dualpixels.com.  ?Most likely with packs of characters and costumes. Some of our costumes will be a gear piece, so if you put on a gear piece, you might switch over to a different character. And that is going to be another part of what makes finding these pieces so much fun.?

While it would be great to envision a variety of characters entering the world of Injustice 2, there is such a deep roster inside DC stars to choose from some may question whether focusing on “outsiders” is the best way to go. There are also obvious legal issues related to mashing-up multiple franchises that could make it more difficult for a horror icon like Freddy Kruger to face off against Batman. The legacy of Mortal Kombat, combined with the fact that both NetherRealm and DC Comics are owned by the same parent company, make additional fighters from the MK universe more of a natural for Injustice 2.

Which non-DC characters would you like to see added to Injustice 2? Would you like to see more than just Mortal Kombat fighters added? Let us know in the comments below…
