Epic Games has announced Solo Showdown, a new limited-time mode for Fortnite Battle Royale.

The mode is available now on all platforms and will reward the top 100 players with a number of V-Bucks ranging from 7,500 to 50,000.

“Queue up for the Solo Showdown mode for a hotly contested Battle Royale experience. Unlike other LTMs, Solo Showdown will not change core gameplay of the current Solo mode,” the developer explains. “Instead, you will be placed against other self-selected competitors making this the ultimate test of survival.”

To be eligible for the prizes, players will need to complete 50 matches between now and the mode ending on May 21st. Points will be awarded depending on where players finish in each match, but only the first 50 matches played will count towards the final score. 100 points will be awarded to the player who wins the match, with less points going to all other players. The prizes on offer are as follows:

  • 1st Place:  50,000 V-Bucks
  • 2nd – 4th  Place:  25,000 V-Bucks
  • 5th – 50th Place:  13,500 V-Bucks
  • 51st – 100th Place:  7,500 V-Bucks

The full rules of Solo Showdown can be found here.

Epic Games also teased a “major announcement” about competitive play that will be coming next week.
