Commenting on consumer negativity toward the Xbox One and what polls indicate is an overwhelming interest in the PlayStation 4, corporate VP of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer told GameSpot “this isn’t a sprint.”

“We always knew that our story would play out over time,” Spencer told GameSpot. “And even now, I would say, this isn’t a spring.”

During their press conference Monday evening, Sony was awarded with overwhelming applause when they stated their stance on DRM and used game issues—a stance that directly contrasts the Xbox One’s.

“The reaction, I think, is complete when the product is on the shelf and it has a price and it has a content library and consumers vote, and that’s the date I’m looking forward to.”
