The main character of The Witcher series, Geralt of Rivia, might be stepping into a different game franchise this year.
Marcin Momot, CD Projekt Red’s community manager, posted a Tweet today that strongly hints that we’ll see Geralt appear in another game series sometime soon.
“What if Geralt was going to step out of the [Witcher games] for the very first time to make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year?” Momot asked on Twitter, followed by a short gif of Geralt’s face. When fans asked for more details later down the thread, Momot responded with a “thinking face” emoji.

Even though the Tweet is framed as a question rather than an announcement, it is a tease that comes straight from CD Projekt Red itself. While Momot didn’t name a game for the crossover, Soulcalibur VI seems like a likely candidate. That series is no stranger to crossover guest characters and cameos from other series, and the next game is set to release later this year. Furthermore, both games have ties to Bandai Namco Entertainment, which publishes the Soulcalibur games and distributed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC in Europe.
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates as to Geralt’s travels. Soulcalibur VI, if that does end up being the chosen game, is set to release in 2018 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
