THE BUZZ: Free-to-play MMO World of Tanks lets players jump into an online competitive world of heavily armored warfare—and the game has become a major hit for its developer.
EGM’s TAKE: In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi says that the game is now exceptionally profitable.
“Those would be millions of dollars [of profits] per month,” Kislyi told GI. “Many millions. I’m not going to give you the exact number, but double digits. Not high double digits.”
World of Tanks currently has over 20 million registered users, and Kislyi says that around 25~30 percent of those players are paying for content—which he notes is one of the “highest payment ratios in the industry.”
