World of Warcraft publisher Activision Blizzard is to appear in court next year over patent infringement claims by World Inc., who claims that the MMO infringes on several technology patents created by the company.

U.S. District Judge Denise J Casper has revealed that the case will go to court on June 27, 2013 in regards to patent numbers 8,082,501, 7,493,558, 7,945,856 and 7,181,69, which come under the title of “System and Method for Enabling Users to Interact in a Virtual Space,” and relate to “three-dimensional graphical multi-user interactive virtual world systems,” according to World Inc.

If World Inc. is successful in the case then it could go after several other MMO companies, considering that most games in the genre use the same base technology. For more information on the tech you can visit the company’s website here.
