World of Warcraft subscribers drop slightly to 7.6 million

Posted on May 7, 2014 AT 03:24am

Activision and Blizzard have shared the latest subscriber numbers for World of Warcraft, which have dropped slightly, but are still high.

Last time we heard, subscriber numbers had risen from 7.6 million to 7.8 million. In a recent earnings call, the publisher announced that subscriber numbers have dropped by approximately 200,000, and now sit at 7.6 million. Still making it the number one subscribed MMO by a very long way.

In other news, it was announced that the game’s next expansion, Warlords of Draenor, has already pre-sold one million copies. The expansion is set to release by the end of this year.

Finally, Activision noted that Blizzard is expanding its World of Warcraft team to accelerate content creation.
