World of Warcraft Subscriptions Down to 9.1 Million

Activision has announced that World of Warcraft has lost over one million subscribers dipping down to 9.1 million.
When we last heard from Activision the MMO was sitting at 10.2 million subscribers, this figure has now dropped to 9.1 million at the end of this quarter. The publisher made it clear that subs had stabilized at the end of last quarter, claiming that they were the same in March 2012 as they were in December 2011.
It’s no surprise that subs are dropping, there hasn’t been any new content released for the game in months and other games in the genre have been pushing content like crazy. The release of Mists of Pandaria should help to bring some of those lost subscribers back, but who knows how long they will stay for.
