Worldwide PlayStation 3 sales to retailers since the console’s launch on November 11, 2006 have surpassed the 80 million mark, Sony has announced.
This latest milestone was reached on November 2, 2013, according to the platform holder. This news follows Microsoft’s announcement last month that the Xbox 360 had surpassed 80 million units sold to retailers worldwide since its launch in November 2005.
As of September 30, 2013, 4,332 software titles had been released for PlayStation 3, according to Sony. The platform holder’s next console, PlayStation 4, is set to launch November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe.
