The Legend of Zelda

Universal Studios has partnered with Nintendo to bring some of the most popular gaming worlds and characters to one fo the most popular theme parks, and the Legend of Zelda series is rumored to be next on the list of exclusive attractions.

So far, we know that Mario-themed areas will be a major part of the park, including a Mario Kart ride. Past rumors have suggested that Pokémon-themed attractions could be another major attraction. Now, the latest reports hint that The Legend of Zelda may have its own area as well.

While neither Nintendo nor Universal has announced anything official, the word from Theme Park University is that a Zelda-themed land will take over the entire Lost Continent at the Islands of Adventure location (in Universal Orlando, at least). According to that site, Lost Continent is the only section of that park not associated with an established property, its own merchandise, or a branded restaurant, putting it first on the chopping block for any new properties Universal needs to bring in.

Supposedly, this expansion to the Nintendo-themed areas of the park is due to a new change in policy, in which Universal parks plan to add at least one major new attraction each year in order to remain competitive with other major theme parks.

At the moment, we don’t know much else about what’s planned for the theme parks. Each of the new areas are planned to open up bit by bit as they’re finished, so expect to see several new attractions spread out over the coming years.
