Blizzard has announced some approximate sales figures for World of Warcraft‘s latest expansion Mists of Pandaria, and also stated that it has brought players back to the game.

According to the developer the game’s latest expansion has sold approximately 2.7 million and has pushed the user base back above 10 million, “with growth across all major regions, based on internal company records and reports from key distribution partners.”

Subs dropped to 9.1 million back in August, but this kind of resurgence is expected with a new expansion so it’s no surprise. “With Mists of Pandaria, we set out to expand on the sense of fun and discovery that’s always been at the heart of World of Warcraft – in addition to adding a huge variety of new content and features to the game,” said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.

“It’s been gratifying to see the results of all of the work we put into this expansion and to hear all of the positive feedback from players so far.”
