WoW subscription price to be increased in the U.K. this November

Blizzard has announced that the pound sterling subscription price of World of Warcraft in the U.K. will be increased this November.

Currently is costs £8.99 for a 30-day subscription, but from November this will increase to £9.99. The cost of the 60-day and 90-day subscriptions will also increase to £28.17 and £52.14, respectively. Finally, the recommended retail price of a 60-day time card will be upped to £20.99.

“We regularly look at our pricing around the world and from time to time we make changes in light of local and regional market conditions,” the developer wrote. “As such, we want to give everyone a heads-up that we will shortly be adjusting the pound sterling subscription price of World of Warcraft.”

It’s worth noting that currently, based on exchange rates, a WoW subscription is cheaper in the U.K. than in the rest of Europe (30 days is €12.99, which is £10 approx), which is probably why this change has been made.

Blizzard added that current subscribers will be able to continue paying the current price for the next two years, so long as they keep a recurring subscription active for the entire time.

“As a thank you for current World of Warcraft subscribers, we guarantee that players with recurring (auto-renewing) subscriptions at the time of the price change will retain their current price for two years, as long as they remain in the same recurring subscription without interruption,” the developer wrote. “This applies to anyone who is already in, or signs up for, a recurring subscription prior to the price change, which is scheduled to take place at the Warlords of Draenor release. We will reach out to relevant players approximately two months prior to the price change with a reminder.”

WoW‘s next expansion, Warlords of Draenor, is set to launch November 13.
